Just a song before I go...

Thu Jun 12, 2008, 2:45 PM
  • Mood: Joy
  • Listening to: Josh Groban
  • Reading: "A Lick of Frost" by Laurell K. Hamilton
  • Watching: Black Cat
  • Playing: Castlevania: Loss of Innocence
  • Eating: Leftover pizza
  • Drinking: Green tea
Perhaps this will keep you guys occupied for a week while I'm gone. ;-)

1) Full name?
Call me Kat. (No, I am not going to make this easy.)

2) Male/Female?
Female last time I checked.

3) Were you named after anyone?
I was named for my dad’s foster mother, my mom’s favorite actress, and a queen.

4) Does your name mean anything?
;Pure torture.”

5) Nickname(s)?
Kat – my general form of address
Lady Rose – to the Green Swordians
Elf – to Karen
Katana – to the Exiles
Kat-chan – when I’m in anime mode

6) What do you think you look like?
A tall, plain girl with a big nose and glasses, nothing particularly special. When I start trying on costumes, though, then it gets interesting.

7) Date of birth?
The twenty-third day of the second month of the year of the dragon.

8) Place of birth and current location?
Born in Westminster, now living in Tourist Trap, PA.

9) Nationality?
American, although I am half German and half English from both sides of my family.

10) Astrology sign?
Pisces the Fish. (Hence my Otakon costume.)

11) Chinese astrology sign?
Dragon!

12) Religion?
I’m officially a Lutheran Christian, and I think I’ll always be Christian, but I’m very open about incorporating elements of other religions and philosophies into my spiritual outlook. So I guess you could call me “an enlightened pagan.”

13) What's your favorite smell?
Oh gods, I have a lot. Fresh flowers, fresh-cut grass, baking bread, good food cooking, the beach, incense (particularly sandlewood and mulberry), new soap, night-time, sunlight, rain…

14) Political Position?
More conservative, but mostly I shun politics.

15) What do you prefer to drink in the morning?
Ice tea or juice, whatever is available. On cold days I might have hot chocolate.

16) Hair + eye color?
Brown + blue. I must say that I do like my eyes ‘cause they are blue, but the pupils are rimmed with gold. I read somewhere that that’s supposed to mean someone has the second sight.

17) Do you look like anyone famous?
I look like an almost exact replica of my mom. Does that count? I also look a little like Willow from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

18) What do you look like?
Something that isn’t dangerous.

19) Any unusual talents?
I’m unusually usual. *grin* Kidding, I am good with writing. I can come up with little rhyming poems within a few moments to fit nearly any occasion, and I’m amazingly good at putting my foot in my mouth while appearing ignorant.

20) Righty, lefty, or ambidextrous?
Righty, although I write like a lefty.

21) Gay, straight, bi, or other?
Straight as an unbent board, but I’ve got a lot of asexual tendencies.

22) What do you do for a living?
I’m a library aide (meaning I shelve books) and a college student. I hope to get a job as a peer editor up at my school and work in a branch of my public library.

23) What do you do for fun?
Reading, watching anime or other TV shows/movies, writing, some drawing, swimming.

24) Materials to work with?
As far as art goes, mostly pencils, colored pencils, and sometimes markers. I have worked with, at some point, watercolors, oil paint, acrylic paint, oil pastels, chalk pastels, ink, charcoal, clay, wood, and stone. Most of those were one-time deals though.

25) What kind of materials would you like to work with?
I’d like to get better with pencils, but I’d also like to work in acrylic paints and clay again, as well a learn how to use the computer to draw or color. Some of the CG pictures out there are so beautiful!

26) Have you met your grandparents?
Only my mom’s parents. My dad’s mom and dad died before I was born, but I have met his foster mom. She’s great!

27) Boyfriend/Girlfriend?
No way in hell.

28) Crush?
Only on guys that don’t exist.

29) What celebrity would you date if you could?
*laughs* Like I said, I’m only interested in guys who don’t exist. I’m particularly fond of Vincent Valentine, although he’d probably shot me along with all his other fan girls.

30) Current worries?
Getting my cat taken care of for the week, bills, the new manager, school…I’ve got a lot on my mind, but I’m pushing it back so I can enjoy myself this coming week!

31) Favorite online guy/girl(s)?
Like, people I like to talk to online? Most of the people I communicate with online I already know in person.
IRL - :icondavid-grant: [link] :iconbirdewilliams: [link] and :iconlarran-deenelle-kin: [link]
dA - :iconmistressofspam: [link] :iconsaimain: [link] :iconlilyhbp: [link] and :iconlosmios: [link]

32) Favorite place to be?
At home alone, out in the woods or near water, or with friends in a comfortable setting.

33) Least favorite place to be?
School, work, on the road when I HAVE to be somewhere.

34) Do you burn or tan?
I guess we’ll find out this week!

35) Ever broken anything?
Nope. I have never in my life been seriously injured.

36) What is your favorite cereal?
Sam’s Choice Raisin Bran when I put bananas in it.

37) Person you cry with?
I don’t cry around people. Or at least I try not to. Tears are still a sign of weakness in my mind and I try not to show weakness where it could be exploited.

38) Any sisters?
Only my dragon-sister, my Sisters of Ink and Pen, and any others I’ve adopted into my family.

39) Any brothers?
Two little brothers who are blood related, and I have my other adopted brothers.

40) Any pets?
My tom-cat, Neko!

41) An illness?
I’m pretty healthy and allergy free, although I think I have a touch of seasonal depression. My mood plummets when the weather is cold or bad.

42) A pager?
Nope.

43) A personal phone line?
Nope.

44) A cell phone?
Yeah, my only phone!

45) A visible birthmark?
I don’t have any markings, but on my left hand I have two fingers that are stunted. I try strangling myself at birth on my umbilical cord, and having the cord wrapped around me for so long inside my mom stunted their growth.

46) A pool or hot tub?
POOL!!!! I LOVE SWIMMING!!!!

47) A car?
A Chevy Lumina, although technically she belongs to my mom. But since I drive her, Lumina is mine.

48) Personality?
Shy but very imaginative.

49) Driving?
Yes, and I’m a pretty safe driver.

50) Your clothing style?
Depends. I don’t have the figure or the taste for most modern styles, but I like dark clothes and costumes. I’m either very modest or very weird.

51) Room?
A room? Hell, I’ve got a whole trailer to myself!

52) What’s missing?
Money. Need more of it.

53) School?
Starting up in the fall and I’m hoping that I like it a little bit this time. (I hate school.)

54) Bed?
Blue and burgundy with a dark wood frame.

55) Relationship with your parent(s)?
Very good ‘cause they trust me and are willing to help me out if I get into any trouble and I try my best not to give them any trouble.

56) Do you believe in yourself?
It depends on the day and what I’m supposed to be believing in. Some days are better than others, some are worse, but my confidence is slowly growing.

57) Do you believe in love at first sight?
Absolutely not. I’m a bit of a romantic, but I believe in attraction or lust at first sight. Love takes time and trust to grow.

58) Consider yourself a good listener?
I try, but if someone is telling me something I don’t want to hear…then I smile, nod, and keep doing what I think is best. But if someone needs me to listen or help in any way, I am there.

59) Have a future dream that you would like to share?
Become a published and wealthy fantasy author and become a more confident, well-rounded and better-informed person.

60) Get along with your parents?
Yeppers!

61) Save your e-mail conversations?
I save everything.

62) Pray?
Not as often as I should, and usually only when I want something. *sigh* I’m trying to rectify that.

63) Believe in reincarnation?
In a way, yes. I believe that some souls return in new bodies, but they don’t always retain memories of their past lives, so in that sense, they are a completely new person.

64) Brush your teeth twice a day?
Yep!

65) Like to talk on the phone?
Not always…I’m more of a face to face or online person. I’m actually more honest online because people can’t see me and I can’t see their faces.

66) Like to eat?
Yes, if it’s good food.

67) Like to exercise?
Not really, but I like swimming and taking walks. I just don’t do enough of that.

68) Like to watch sports?
No, not really, unless it’s sword play.

69) Sing in the car?
Sometimes, but I prefer listening to music of some kind.

70) What is a dream that you have all the time?
My dreams tend to go in cycles. There are dreams that I’ve had when I was much younger that have come around again. Most of the time they don’t make sense, but I try to write down the ones that have some kind of plot or interesting characters. My current novel is based off of one of my dreams.

71) Dream in color?
Definitely.

72) Do you have nightmares?
Sometimes, but I don’t usually remember them. My dreams tend to just be weird with a few scary bits rather than all terror.

73) Sleep with a stuffed animal?
Several, but Mr. Bear is my must.

74) What's right next to you?
A pen to my left and an empty can to my right.

75) What's on your favorite mug?
I don’t have a favorite mug.

76) What's on your mouse pad?
I use my desk as a mouse pad.

77) Your favorite flavor of gum?
Juicy Fruit or pink Extra Extra.

78) Your brand of deodorant?
The cheap Dollar Store kind.

79) Your dream honeymoon spot?
I don’t plan on getting married, but if I did and had a honeymoon, I would want to go somewhere warm near the ocean.

80) Your dream husband/wife?
Michael, but he’s either dead or just not here, so I have to wait until I get back to Sanctuary…

81) What's hiding in your closet?
My costumes and boxes. Lots of boxes. And my water heater.

82) Under your bed?
More boxes.

83) The name of one of your closest/best friends?
Lauren!

84) Your bad time of the day?
Depends on what happened; I’m flexible. If someone makes me mad or if you wake me up too soon, then I’m not happy. And being at work does wonders for my mood.

85) Your worst fear(s)
Amnesia, sex, dying before my stories are done, friends and family dying, going blind, being worthless or useless.

86) What's the weather like?
So nice and warm and sunny…I love this weather.

87) Your favorite time of year?
Late spring, early summer. Anytime it is warm without the humidity.

88) Your favorite holiday?
Probably Christmas.

89) A material weakness?
Books. I am a sucker for books and deals involving books.

90) The weirdest food or drink that you like?
Apparently the combination of strawberries in milk with sugar is unknown outside my family.

91) At the top of your "to do list"?
Get everything together for the beach and wash dishes.

92) The hardest thing about growing up?
When you start to understand how society really works. <- That and becoming cynical. I hate being cynical and losing that childlike wonder at the smallest thing. I just can’t do it the way I used to anymore.

93) A pet peeve?
People who don’t use turn signals properly or leave them on when there is no turnoff in sight, people who are condescending, music turned up so loud that I can’t understand the words and I go temporarily deaf, and people who accuse you of being a homosexual just because you aren’t interested in dating. Oh, and stupid people, particularly school administrators and politicians.

94) Your scariest moment?
Waking up from a dream where I was bitten in half and not being able to feel the lower half of my body. Almost hitting a deer going 70 mph on the highway. Thinking Jimmy was going to commit suicide.

95) Your attitude about love?
I admire and congratulate the people who find the genuine article, but don’t let it make you do stupid things in the heat of the moment. That’s just asking for trouble.

96) The funniest or most desperate thing you've done?
I think the funniest thing I’ve ever done was run headfirst into a mailbox when I was, like six. The most desperate…staying up until the wee hours of the morning working on an essay. Yeah, I haven’t had a very danger-filled life. My friends have better stories on this kind of stuff than I do, and they are a lot funnier.

97) The worst feeling in the world?
A tie between knowing someone is hurting and you can’t help them and having someone you care about tear your world apart.

98) The best feeling in the world
Accomplishment at doing something you haven’t before, having purpose in your life and knowing this is what you were meant to do, reading a good book and feeling the characters drag you into their lives, and having your own characters and stories come to life.

99) Who sent this to you?
I stole it from Losmios. *grin*

Whoever is bored enough to read this quiz had BETTER take it!

Wow, you're playing a Castlevania game too?

I've been playing Castlevania: Circle of the Moon like crazy lately. It's one of the only games I've ever bought on a whim (it was $10 and they didn't have Metroid: Zero Mission and I really wanted something similar to play in bed at night), and I love it. My GameBoy Advance and I have gotten much better-acquainted lately.

You should really get that looked at.

Hooray! I don't feel so odd now! *chuckle*

(And the beach is AWESOME! It's such a different pace, going for a week instead of trying to pack everything into 3 days. Morgan and me might get to go parasailing before the week is out. FUN!!!!)
