Ravens and Roses - rough cover

Wow, it's been so long since I've submitted any deviations that I almost forgot how to! First deviation of the New Year too! (Okay, technically I drew it back in 2011, but still, it's the first one to be posted in 2012! So it counts!)

Anyway, this is a rough idea of what I want the cover of Ravens and Roses, the first book in The Mariner Sequence, to look like. It features two of the main characters, Ryn and Scion. Ryn's symbol is the raven and Scion's symbol is a white rose, so I really want to have a flock of ravens or at least black bird wings on Ryn's side and a bunch of roses on Scion's side...but I kinda lack the talent to draw anything that detailed and make it look good. So you'll have to use your imagination.

I'm usually not good at drawing faces, but I think this turned out very nicely. Please forgive the crappy attempt at erasing lines. I drew this in my notebook on lined paper and didn't want to trace it for fear of losing some of the details I liked. (I would LOVE to have the cover of Ravens and Roses done by Saimain; her work is just gorgeous.)
